New Castlevania Fan Game (?)

Some time ago, I shared a video about this new Castlevania fan game. That’s just a temporary title for now, but it’s already getting a great reception from fans :D.

But now I finally have a name for the project: Silver Night’s Crusaders (or “Los Cruzados de la Noche Plateada” in Spanish xd), and it will be developed in OpenBOR.

Silver Night’s Riders or Silver Night’s Crusaders?

Interestingly, the title of this game came up while chatting with a friend and fellow gamedev on Facebook Messenger, as I was heading home after a long day of work along Tacna Avenue (near the Santa Rosa de Lima Sanctuary xd). He jokingly suggested the final word among several funny alternatives:

“…or just call it Silver Night’s Crusaders…”

I think he came up with that name because he likes the anime series JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure (Stardust Crusaders). I haven’t watched it and I’m not really a JoJo fan, but I know it’s popular xd.

The game could have been called “Silver Night’s Riders,” a title I wasn’t fully convinced about. Still, since I wanted to officially announce the project and show more progress, I almost went with it x.x

New Castlevania Fan Game or Original Project (?)

Like my previous project, I’ve decided to go with an original story. Silver Night’s Crusaders will be an original game, but heavily inspired (very heavily xd) by the Castlevania series from Konami.

Just to be clear, I’m not a hardcore fan of Castlevania, but I do like it a lot, so I’ll give it my best.

When will the demo be released?

Yes, the next step is to release a demo, probably featuring 5 out of the 10 levels I have planned for this game.

It won’t include dialogue sequences to avoid spoilers—only the intro sequence—but I don’t have an exact release date yet.

It will also include co-op mode, since OpenBOR supports it by default 😀

If you want to learn more about the project, feel free to follow the development blog. Subscribe to updates so you don’t miss any future posts.
