Neon Lightning Force 1.5 Demo

I finally finished the Neon Lightning Force demo! Some users had already been asking for it in the YouTube comments.

And as I mentioned before, the Neon Lightning Force demo would arrive in April this year, so here are all the details.

About the Neon Lightning Force Demo

This demo comes without dialogues.

Those who played the version of Neon Lightning Force I released back in 2016 will already know what the story is about.

The main changes are related to design, with visually redesigned stages and some button layout adjustments to make room for a new command: “Drop Weapon.”

As I mentioned in the previous post, the weapon roster has expanded to more than triple compared to the 2016 version, adding much more visual variety to the game.

The playable characters have also been better balanced, nerfing the strongest ones while improving the weaker ones.

You may encounter some bugs or incomplete features in the demo, since the game is still in development. Even so, I’d appreciate reports of strange bugs or glitches through the contact page.

Future Changes for Neon Lightning Force

The demo lets players experience the raw mechanics of Neon Lightning Force, but there’s still a lot of visual polish left to add. Here’s a list of possible features planned for the full version:

  • Bullet ricochet effects: firearms shoot metal projectiles that will bounce off armored structures or robots.
  • Every item in the game will display an icon below the character’s health bar when picked up.
  • A brand-new score screen is planned. It won’t just save your score and selected character, but also 3 initials representing the player’s name (just like classic arcade games).

I hope to finish this project by June 2024. As for the English version, it may not release at the same time as the Spanish version similar to what happened with the 2016 release due to technical issues. Still, I’ll do my best to have it ready for the anniversary (Neon Lightning Force turns 10 years old on the internet in 2026).

To finish this post, I’d like to thank the users of the ChronoCrash community, not only for supporting OpenBOR the engine I use to create Neon Lightning Force but also for helping me with this project by answering my questions on the forums.
