Here you’ll find the questions, doubts, and curiosities I receive most often through social media, email, or the comments section of this website about TRUE ROLE DREAMS and its games. If you’re new around here, sorry if I haven’t been able to reply personally. I hope you’ll find the answer you’re looking for here.
OpenBOR support, compatibility, or configuration
If you have technical questions about OpenBOR itself, please visit the ChronoCrash community forums. (They know far more about the engine than I do.) My games run perfectly on both PC and Android using the OpenBOR emulator, so unfortunately I can’t provide much technical support for engine-related issues :(.
Xbox controller or joystick problems
Xbox controller compatibility issues are most likely caused by limitations or bugs in the OpenBOR engine itself.
However, I created a video tutorial explaining how to configure OpenBOR to play on PC using a generic joystick. It works great with my games and during my own testing.
Where did you study game development? Do you work in the industry?
No. I’m self-taught and have never studied game development professionally. Everything I’ve learned has come from experimenting with engines like OpenBOR and RPG Maker, reading documentation, and solving problems one project at a time.
Is True Role Dreams an indie game company?
Not exactly.
TRUE ROLE DREAMS was created as a personal label to bring together all of my games and creative projects. It isn’t a commercial game studio, and I don’t sell my games. It’s simply the name under which I publish everything I create.
Why do you use ripped resources instead of creating everything yourself?
Because these projects began as tributes to the games that shaped my childhood and are aimed at a very specific homebrew gaming community.
Whenever I use existing resources, I try to transform and integrate them into an entirely new context. Over time I’ll also continue adding more original illustrations, characters, and assets to my projects.
Have you ever considered developing games professionally?
I enjoy making games as a hobby, and I’d like to keep it that way xd.
True Role Dreams is my space to experiment, learn, and develop the games I’ve always wanted to create.
Are the games free?
Yes.
Every game published by True Role Dreams can be downloaded for free from the Games section of this website.
Will there be more games?
Absolutely.
I’m currently working on new projects and updates. All important news is published on the development blog and through my social media channels.
